Here are the rules we follow when preparing texts: who is responsible for them, what they rest on and how quickly inaccuracies are fixed.
Who is responsible for the material
Every piece has an author, and the name is shown on the article page. Responsibility for the facts lies with the site editors, not with outside contractors.
Material on this site is prepared and checked by Sarah Whitfield.
How facts are checked
We prefer the primary source to a retelling: if a statement cannot be verified, it does not go into the text.
Corrections procedure
If you spot an inaccuracy, tell us and attach the page address. The correction goes into the piece itself; we will not delete a page to hide a mistake.
